Contraindications

     The caffeine in the Green tea has some impacts on the certain drugs. So it’s better to avoid green tea together with the following drugs…
                     i.            Beta-lactam (penicillins , cephalosporins etc..):
Green tea may increase the result of beta-lactam antibiotics. The reason is being reducing bacterial resistance to this drug.
                    ii.            Benzodiazepines (Ativan, valium etc..):
Caffeine may reduce the effects of benzodiazepines.
                  iii.            Antiarrhythmic (Adenosine):
Green tea inhibits action of adenosine.
                  iv.            Beta-blockers (metoprolol, propranolol etc..):
Caffeine may increase blood pressure.
                    v.            Clozapine (Antipsychotic):
Green tea can reduce the action of clozapine.
                  vi.            Anticoagulant, Antiplatelet agents (Aspirin etc..):
Green tea makes these drugs ineffective or less effective. The use of green tea and anticoagulant together increases the risk of bleeding because it affects the vitamin K.
                 vii.            Ephedrine (Bronchodilator, Vasopressor, Decongestant):
Green tea   increases the incidence of weight loss, insomnia, tremors, and agitation.
               viii.            Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (used for treating depression)
Green tea may cause hypertensive crisis.
                  ix.            Phenylpropanolamine (Psychoactive):
Green tea together with  phenylpropanolamine cause mania and  increase in blood pressure.
                    x.            Lithium (for treatment of mania and depression):
Green tea  reduces the level of lithium in blood.
                  xi.            Bortezomib (anticancer drug):
                 xii.            EGCG a polyphenolic ingredient binds with this drug thereby  reducing its bioavailability which leads to no action.
